week 19

We were sick this week 🤒😷🤧🥴. The sisters tested positive for covid so we could not go knocking doors. We made lots of videos about prayer in Arabic and messaged lots of people who commented on our Facebook.

We accidentally called someone in Lebanon? We were calling the people on our phone whk we didn't know to ask them If they are members of our church or if they have met with missionaries and would be interested in meeting with missionaries again. One of those people we called was the wife of a member in Lebanon. Why do we have her number? What was going on to get her number? No idea. It was comical when we found out Tho. Her husband texted us and said that he was grateful for us missionaries!

My testimony has really grown about prayer. I have seen as we pray for our friends and our families. that our prayers have been answered. Our friends have been praying and reading and they are coming to church. Faith is super important when it comes to praying. like alma says, faith is like a seed and when you plant that seed and nurture it with prayer and scriptures and church your faith/seed will grow!!! let me know how prayer has increased your faith?!?!?!?

love you all and have a blessed week

week 18

Hello hello hello
This week has been so fun! We went on 2 exchanges, where we switched companions temporarily, and made so many new friends.

El cajon is such a fun place to be. There is always something interesting going on. The other day we got out of the car and we heard someone screaming super loudly for like 10 min. We were also at the library and a family was doing like family therapy?

Our friend was sick this week and could not join us at church which made him super sad. He was able to hear a talk from one of our members. Church is super important because it brings us closer to Jesus Christ.

I have been learning so much Arabic and can now share a little bit of a lesson and talk to someone at the doorstep. I know that the gift of tongues is real because I know that I could not learn Arabic this fast without the Lord on my side.

This week I have really Grown a Deeper appreciation for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I can see the joy it brings people when they learn and understand what their Savior did for them. It is such a blessing to see them feel the Love OF JESUS CHRIST. I invite all of you to share your testimony with one person this week. Let me know how it goes!!!!I

hope you all have a blessed week and know that God loves you!!! How have you seen him love this week???

week 17

Hello hello hello

I am now in El Cajon. And in a trio! It has been so fun. My comps are amazing they love to quiz me in my Arabic knowledge so I am learning so much faster than last transfer when I didn't have an Arabic sister with me. El Cajon is such a fun city. Yesterday a helicopter was circling the city announcing that they were looking for an at risk man. Apparently that happens a lot.

We have a lot of lessons in Arabic and English like spanglish but with Arabic. We had a lesson the other day and the family had their door open but the screen door closed and a little kid walked up to the door started taking off his shoes and only when he opened the door did he realize it was not his home. His eyes went super wide. It was so funny. We were all laughing so hard.

We had another lesson with a lady who requested an Arabic Bible and we stop by and she let's us in. We saw that when we walked in they already had a book of mormom! They were super welcoming and then gave us dinner. I tried a green date and it was so interesting and very very sweet.

We were at a park and a whole bunch of kids came up and were so cute and sweet. They loved talking to us.

One thing I learned this week is that God loves us all so much! I can only feel a fragment of the love that he has for all his Children. I love all the people that we talk to and interact with. I know that God is giving me that love and it's only a small amount. I know that God only wants what's best for us and he KNOWs what is best for us. Councl with him in all your doing and hear him.

I hope you all have a blessed week and know that God loves you!!! How have you seen him love this week???

week 16

This week we have met many people who do not believe in God at all and meeting these people have made me sad. It is sad to not want to believe or believe that there is a God in Heaven who Loves you. And I know that it brings me great Joy knowing that our Heavenly Father Loves us. He loves each and every one of you. I have not only found Great Joy in Knowing that but I have also found Hope. I Want everyone to know that Their Heavenly Father loves YOU!!!

We had a friend get baptized on Saturday, he is so nice and seeing him being baptized and confirmed with the Holy Ghost was such a blessing. You could see how much Joy he had.

I am officially done being trained. On Wednesday I will move to El Cajon and speak *Arabic*.

Saturday I was pretty sick and had a fever so we could not go out and I slept all day. I was really sad that I could not find people who could have been interested in hearing our message. I have truly found Joy in the work and Serving the Lord.

Love you all and have a blessed week

week 15

HAPPY MONDAY!!!! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday and worship service. Tell me what you learned at church!

We got a call from a woman this week and she asked us how soon can she be baptized. She was Muslim and she wants nothing to do with it. She wants to grow closer to Jesus Christ and she knows that baptized is a big step to do that. Pray for her that she will continue to want to grow closer to Jesus Christ.

We knocked lots and lots of doors this week and met many friendly people. The many of the people we meet are so nice and I wish we could talk to them more and get to know them better but they are usually in the middle of something.

We have a friend named Christian and he's such a cool guy, he's from Peru and know Spanish, Italian, and English. He is excited to learn more and to read the Book of Mormon.

I have had so much fun learning aribic and I can now share a short simple testimony in aribic. But I want to share my Testimony with yall in English, I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Redeemer. I know that he loves me and cares for me. I know that the Book Of Mormon is another Testimony Of Jesus Christ. I know that you are all Loved by Jesus Christ and by our Heavenly Father.
It has been such a blessing to be able to share my Testimony with others every day and help them know that their God is a Loving God who is their Father. I KNOW THAT HE LOVES ALL OF YOU UNCONDITIONAL.

I did take some more pictures than usual so enjoy

week 14

Hello hello hello

 Ù…رحبا مرحبا مرحبا
I hope everyone's week has been superb
We had lots of Spanish lessons this week, my comp knows Spanish too. And many of our Spanish speaking friends love the book of mormon! We also had one farsi lesson with this family who immigrated from  Afghanistan to Chile to here. They are all super sweet and they want to be baptized.

Lots of door knocking happened this week and we had some great conversations about God and the blessing that we can have when we pray to him. But non of the people we talked to were interested in talking to us again.

I went on exchanges, that means I switch companions for a day, with the young single adult sisters and we did some target finding. I have found that I much rather knock people's doors and talk to them there instead of talking to people in target. And I get very distracted in target. It's not very good.

A member had us over for dinner and they made us shrimp and Grits. It was amazing. The only thing left that I need from home is some rain. Contrary to popular opinion, I love the rain. It gives the world a little clean.

Yesterday I gave a talk in church about being a disciple of Jesus Christ and what it mean. I talked about how we all need to strive to be like him and follow the example he set. That we need to have faith, hope, charity, virtue, integrity, knowledge, patience, humility, diligence and obedience. I asked every to write down what they will focus on this week to become a better disciple of Jesus Christ and then reflect on how they did at church the next week. So I will ask you all the same thing. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS WEEK TO BECOME A BETTER DISIPLE OF JESUS AND BECOME MORE CHRISTLIKE? Let me know so I can ask you how you goal went.

week 13

مرحبا مرحبا مرحبا

It's hard to believe that I've been a missionary for 3 months now!!!! I have learned so much and have loved watching people grow closer to God and Jesus Christ. It is such a blessing to see God's work come to pass. I have seen people from not knowing who God is to wanting to make promises with Him. It's so amazing.

Leticia was set apart as a missionary yesterday and I am so excited that she gets to teach people in Brazil in their own language. She will be a blessing to many people there.

We had a Miracle this week. The past two weeks we have not been able to find any new friends so we set our goal for this week to find one new friend. We were able to find 4 people who were interested in wanting to learn more and who wanted to be our friend. I know that when we have faith God will make it happen.

Nothing much happened this week but I have been really good at knocking doors. I think I have it down to a science. There are a lot of weird doors that we knock so you have to figure out where the best place to put your hand and how hard to hit the door to make the best knocking sound. Because all doors are made of different materials you sometimes hear some funny Noises. Anyway I have grown an appreciation of cool doors.

I know that God love you all and He is there for you. Seek Him out in your every day life and you will see how blessed you are.

Sorry I did not take any pictures this week so here is me holding the aribic Book of Mormon. It opens backwards.

week 12 congratulations Daniel and Olivia

مباح مباح مباح

I hope everyone has had the most blessed week!!!! I've had a pretty fire week. Did we find any new friend, sadly no. But I have seen many miracles this week. I know that the lord is very involved in my life and what I am doing here in San Diego.

We made a visit to this one lady who used to meet with the missionaries and she told us to come back to share with her a message and that was so exciting. Usually when we ask people when a better time is they are like, "probably never" but in a more respectful way. The people here are super nice.

Another miracle that I saw this week was on face book. I messaged this guy and asked him if he would like to hear a message about Jesus Christ and he said no thanks. Then yesterday he sent me a message saying he would like to hear something. So that was super cool.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DANIEL AND OLIVIA!!! On Friday I was able to call mu family and see my brand New SISTER. Daniel and Olivia got Sealed in the temple. That means that not even death can separate them and they will be together forever. I hope that I can help a family become Sealed while I am on my mission so they can receive the same blessings that my family receives.

Studying aribic is hard but it is so rewarding. I have been slowly learning the language but in a few weeks I will be able to bear my testimony in aribic. I know that because God loves all his Children he wants them all to have the opportunity to learn of the Good News that we share. He does not want language to be a problem for why they could not hear it.

God loves you all and he is always in your life. Look for the little miracle and share with me one miracle you have seen this week.

There is this one song that we listen to in aribic and English about King David dancing before the lord.
2 samuel 6:14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might.
Send me a video of your interpretation on how David may have danced.

I love receiving all of yalls letters and cards. It makes my day!!!

Sorry I only have one picture from this week :)

week 11

This week has been crazy!!! I've been studying aribic non stop. I am assigned to a Persian branch where everyone speaks farsi and I tell them that I'm learning aribic and they look at me like I'm crazy. Apparently aribic is super hard to learn. But I have learned the whole alphabet which is super crazy.

My companion speaks farsi, Spanish and English so we can teach lessons in all those languages. We did not have an English lesson this week so I felt pretty useless. I was able to feel the spirit tho. Which means that no matter what language, God wants all his children to learn.

Del mar is super pretty. I get the study at a park that is right next to the beach so I can watch the surfers and the beach goers. My comp told me that there are sometimes huge pods of dolphins that we can see so I'm looking forward to that.

Last Monday was my last Monday in terrisanta and we had a lesson with Wesley. He was sad to see me go but he was excited to meet a new missionary. He said, "it doesn't matter who I meet with as long as I learn." Which is so true. The Gospel is for everyone and anyone can teach it. Wesley is super amazing and he is gonna do great things in life.

We were at this park and we met this guy from Syria and saw my comps name tag, which is in farsi, and asked about it. We told him that she speaks farsi and he's like ohhhh, there are some aribic words on there. And then we told him that I'm learning aribic and he asked to take a picture with us and he posted it on fb. It was an interesting interaction.

I want to share my Testimony about something we do as missionaries called role play. It is where we practice an interaction we might have as a missionary with our companion. So my companion was pretending to be someone that we were teaching and she asked a question. I answered that question and then I thought nothing of it the rest of the day. Later when we had our lesson with our friend, he asked the same exact question. YALL, I DO NOT LIKE DOING ROLE PLAYS, but I have seen the lord put these questions in my comps mouth so that I can be prepared. The Lord does not ask us to do things that will not help us. GOD IS ALWAYS TRYING TO HELP YOU! HE GIVES US COMMANDMENTS TO KEEP US HAPPY AND SAFE. I know that God loves you all.

How could I forget!!!!! Our friend Nina Got baptized on Tuesday! She was so excited and so ready. She has such a light to her!!!

week 10

This week has been great! We did a lot of biking and I think I have gotten better at going up hill. The heat has definitely picked up tho, so we will arrive at a lesson with sister matushita looking perfect not tired at all. And then me covered in dripping sweat out of breath. And then I'm asked to say the opening prayer as I am trying to catch my breath. It's super fun tho.

We had a special zone conference with sister Camille Johnson. She is the general president for the whole relief society. She is the president of the largest and oldest women's organization on earth!!! She talked about setting goals and making sure they align with God's will. And when that does happen we cab active our Goals. Her husband shared a story how he was able to baptized 25 men in one month! Sister Johnson was really funny when they were talking about it.

We got transfer news this week and I will be moving from terrisanta, a place that I thought was really bougie, to Del Mar, an even fancier place. I will be with a sister who speaks farsi and she will be teaching me the aribic/farsi alphabet.

It has been such a blessing being able to serve in terrisanta and teach the people here. It is incredible to see how people can feel the spirit and want to learn more. It is such a blessing that I can help these people learn how to build their relationship with God. Our friend Wesley is the biggest example to me of really wanting to change and learning how to turn to God for that help. Because of Jesus Christ atoneing sacrifice we all can truly change and become better people.  Wesley said he wanted to get baptized but he is now having second thoughts. We could really use yalls prayers to help him want to continue on his path towards God.

This week we were also able to really grow closer to our ward and be able to do studies with members. They also gave us advice on how to ask better questions and how to use our testimonies to help build our friends.

Sunday our bishop was conducting the meeting and forgot to ask people to give talks so he asked me and sister matushita 20min before the meeting to give a talk. I was like huuuuuh. But I was able to do it. I talked about a general conference talk given Oct 23 by elder Gary e Stevenson about the gifts of the Holy Ghost. It's an amazing talk. Yall should listen to it if you haven't. Or if you have, listen to it again. Let me know what parts stand out to you!

DONT FORGET THE POWER THAT PRAYERS HAVE! PRAY EVERY DAY AND YOU WILL BE BLESSES.

week 9

Hello hello hello, after biking up hill both from and to home I am still alive and maybe well. Biking is fun but somehow this week we found a way to bike uphill both ways. Don't tell me it's impossible becuase I did it. Sister Matsushita loves biking up hill so she'll be super far infront of me. I have to sing to myself I can do all things to make it to the top. I also learned that I have to stick my pants into my sock or else the chain will eat it. So sometimes I'll look like a little English boy.

I was able to finish my exchange that started last Saturday. Sister Connors is so effective. We had like 5 lessons and she was able to end them all before 30 min. I was also able to learn how to politely interrupt someone so I could keep leading a discussion. I was also able to go on the marine base and witness a cake cutting ceremony. It was pretty cool.

We had our last lesson with Wesley this week and then we gave him over to the ysa missionaries. Wesley also wants to get baptized so pray for him to stay strong.

We met with Jerry this week and gave him a book of mormon. He sometimes sees us in the park and will be sad if we start, "bible study" without him. We started giving him specific chapters to read.

Wednesday sister Matsushita took over the youth activity and had a sushi night. She taught all of us how to make sushi and she taught us about missionary work in Japan. We had a bunch of left over rice so now our fridge is full of rice. I don't eat that much rice!!!! The sushi tho was amazing.

Last Monday we did zone Olympics and my district got 3rd. It's was really fun.

I saw a rocket?!? We were visiting a member and picking up a rice cooker from her and I look up and see a rocket I think. I'm not sure. It was pretty cool tho.

This week I have been studying the priesthood and the restoration of the church. I've learned that the church is only Jesus' church if it has the priesthood to keep access to God and revelation. I know that Jesus gave the priesthood to Joseph Smith to restore his church. I know that the Priesthood is the Power Of God on earth and it works through our faith. Faith is super important. With faith you can move mountains or ride up them on a bike. KEEP BUILDING YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST BY READING YOUR SCRIPTURES AND PRAYI
NG EVERY DAY. God loves you. Jesus loves you. They want to hear you and to help you.

week 8, My name is now Sarah

Hey hey hey!!! I hope everyone was able to see the Lords hand in their life this week. I definitely have.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE AMAZING FATHERS OUT THERE!!! I KNOW THAT MY FATHER IS SUPER COOL AND HE TAUGHT ME THAT MY FATHER IN HEAVEN LOVES ME!!! Heavenly Father also loves you all!!!

We have this friend who meet at the park alot and he says he has a hard time remembering names. And he looks at me and says your a Sarah. So I guess my name is Sarah now. I don't know how it can be hard to forget Wait or not be able to pronounce it but that's ok. I'll be Sarah for our friend.

God really does protect us missionaries. He keeps us safe. Me and sister Matsushita, we got bike, we were in a neighborhood knocking doors and I told her that I really needed to use the bathroom. We were planning on heading home but then she said let's knock one more door. We did, Noone answers so we started making our way home. I accidentally took a wrong turn and we had to go the slightly longer way. Thank goodness for the wrong turn and one more door. If we went home any sooner we would have been involved in a fatal car accident on out bikes. The intersection that we would have crossed a drunk driver ran through and hit another car. He was running away when we got there and someone was badly hurt. If we were there any earlier we could have also been hurt. I know that God gives us inspiration to keep us safe. Pray for the woman that was hurt in that accident.

Our friend Wesley just graduated college and he asked us to meet more. He has progressed so much. We know that he knows that God loves him and he has learned that too. He learned to pray and told us that he tries to pray everyday and he knows that God is listening. Wesley is an amazing guy so keep praying for him to know that God loves him!!!

Yesterday we had a lesson and sister Matsushita said let's role-play while we were preparing for the lesson. I complained and said that role plays never go the way that the actual lesson goes. And guess what. The lessons went exactly how the role play went. So imma be saying that more to be Uber prepared.

I had my first exchange on Saturday. I went over to the stl (sister training leader) Friday night and her comp joined my comp. It was really just a sleepover with my stl. Because on Saturday an emergency came up and I was sent right back to sister Matsushita. I heard that that is not usually how exchanges go.

This week was a fun week and The Lord was doing so much for us. He keeps us safe. I've learned that following the rules and commandments are for our Saftey and there are many blessing that follow with exact obedience. What is a commandment that you are struggling with that you can try to find the joy in keeping?

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I'm not very good at taking them.
