week 67: Merry Christmas

hey 'yall,

I hope yall have had a very merry christmas 🎄 this is my second christmas on the mission and I am very thankful for those of you who sent me messages and who sent me your christmas card!!!! I really feel your love and the christmas spirit. 

this week I was able to talk in church ⛪️ about what the christmas season means to me. I was able to invite all of our friends that we were teaching specifically to listen to me. only 2 of them came but I felt very loved and supported by them. 

we dropped off ornaments to our friends! these ornaments had many different names of christ. I loved being able to share the message of christ and how much he means to me. we didn't have much success this week because it was christmas but I was able to share my testimony of the Savior!!!!

week 66: 3 Christmas Parties

hey y'all,

it's been such a good week preparing up to Christmas 🎄 I love Christmas time so much and I love being able to be here at this time sharing the gospel! I have meet so many people who I have been able to share 

WE HAD DINNER WITH TONY!!! we had our dinner with a member cancel so we asked Tony if we could eat with him at his shop. he happily said yes and made us his most famous dish and dessert 🍨 it was so yummy. 😋 

we went to 3 Christmas party's this week!!! I love Christmas so much and the ability I have as a missionary to celebrate it all the time. one of the elders dresses up as Santa 🎅 and the kids loved it!!! 

we visited one of our friends who was recently baptized (Juan carlos) he is so funny. he always jokes around with us and we were messing with him when we went to go visit him because he was acting grumpy. so my compaion and I took a picture with him looking grumpy 😠 he also told us he downloaded this Bible jeopardy game and told us he plays it while he is at work. (he is a security gaurd) I love hearing about all the ways he is learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

we were able to teach Andrea this week and the spirit in her home is undesirable. I am able to feel so connected to my Savior and my hevenly father when I am in her house. one day I hope my home is like hers. we were able to talk to her about family home evening and she loved it ❤️ she is so excited to start doing it in her home.

week 65: Elder Redland

Hey yall!

this week was so bitter sweet. I say bye to Hermana sommer as she went home to hug 🫂 her mom again!!! I also said bye to my first companions Hermana Montas and Hermana Brown :*(( 

we got to visit a ton of members and hna sommer got to say bye to them. 

we had a few awesome lessons 😎 we taught the salzar family and they are always such fun to teach!!!

we also had the privilege to listen to Elder renlund! it was so incredible 😍 and I felt the spirit so strongly 💪🏽 

anyways I didn't take too much time to write an email 🙃 but I'll do better next week!!

week 64. Nativity Festival

hey yall,

 

I don't even know where to start this week. it's been a full fun week!!!

we had an exchange with a few companionship of Hermanas in the El Paso area. Hermana Billeter and I were able to be back together for the day with hermana Mitchell!! we saw so many miracles ✨️ and we were able to meet and teach soo many people. then we went to west Texas and had a great lunch!!!!

Sister starr 🌟 and I were able to go on exchange!!! I love going on exchanges with her I always feel like I'm hanging out with my best friend and I'm myself again 🩷🩷  we meet with an Hermana and she gave us gifts!!! I got some fake flowers and sister starr was given a flower purse 👛. 

we meet with Tony on Saturday night to remind him to go to church and I was so cold 🥶 (for everyone who doesn't know, I don't do well in the cold) I always keep a blanket in my car so I ran to the car and got a blanket. (picture attached) 📸 then we talked to Tony about continued promised blessings we can get as we keep going to church. 

TONY showed up to church before we did!!!! I'm so proud of him and his choice to keep coming to church ⛪️ 

we had an awesome lesson with our friend Jaret she is so cool 😎 we taught her about the plan of salvation and she loved it sooo much!!! I've never had a lesson where someone asked so many good questions. I'm so excited to see 👀 where the lord takes her.

week 63: HAPPY THANKSGIVING

hey yall,

I hope yall had a happy Thanksgiving!!! Mine was absolutely amazing! we went to the El Paso Thanksgiving parade and I was able to see some of my old companions and we hung out for a while. it was so good to see them!!! after the Thanksgiving parade my companions and I took a longgggg nap we were so exhausted 😩 then we went to our Thanksgiving dinners and we ate ourselves stuffed!!!

MIRACLE FOR THIS WEEK!!!!

we Have a friend named Tony and he has been taught by missionaries for over 3 years now. missionaries have been teaching him on and off and I remember teaching him when I was this area last year. my companions and I decided to stop by his restaurant once.  Day and talk to him and still see if he was interested in being baptized. he said he was still interested and wanted to be baptized. So we talked to him about the importance of going to church. he has not been to church ⛪️ in over a year and a 1/2. we then encouraged him to do all that he could do to come to church.  My companions and I made him a sign that I will include in my pictures to close his Restaurant during the time of church. Fast forward to sunday my companions and I called him A few times and he kept saying I will be there. the unfortunate thing is, he has said that for the past year and a 1/2 so we were not sure if we believed him. right. write as the service was starting and the first song was being sung. Tony walked in my companions and I looked at each other and smiled soooo big!!! we couldn't have been more proud of him and the sacrifice he did to close his shop to come to church on sunday!!!!!

I have grown such a strong testimony of the importance of prayer and being humble 🙏 these past few weeks. i know that we can't do anything without Hevenly Father and I know that we have to be humble to see the blessings he has in store for us!!

week 62: zone conference

Hey Yall,

this week was just soo much fun!!! we had Zone conference so I was able to see all of my mission friends. 😎 my compaion (Hermana sommer) said bye to all her friends and that's when it actually hit that she was going to be going home soon 🥺🥹😢 I learned so much at zone conference but one thing that really stood out to me was that we can never actually achieve perfection in this life. we need to keep working 💪🏽 and improving to be better and better. I have definitely seen improvement un myself as a missionary but I know there is so much more improving to go!!! 

we had a ward Thanksgiving party 🥳 it was so much fun to see all the members and to get to know them better! there was soo much good food I ate myself full 😋 Mexicans don't take no as an answer so they kept piling food on my plate. 

Hermana Sommer and I will be training a new missionary so we are super excited 😄

week 61: my companion is from Indiana

hey yall,

this week was so very spiritual!!! our friend Antonio was able to be baptized!!! the spirit at baptisms is so incredibly strong 💪🏽 and I love being able to be apart of their special day. Antonio cried 😢 the whole time and you could tell he was just so happy with his decision to be baptized. then the next day (Sunday) he was able to receive the gift of the Holy ghost. his mom was able to make it and she cried 😢 the whole time as well. hopefully soon we will be able to start teaching the mom!! 

this week we were able to go on exchanges with the English sisters so I was able to hang out with sister Southwick 💕 she is so super fun. we were driving to a members house and the Google maps started taking us off reading in the sand so the only logical thing to do was to drive through the sand. long story short we got stuck and I had to push the car out of the sand lol 😆  nobody was hurt and we got a good story out of it!!!

we started teaching our friend Gilberto! he is so cool. he doesnt have much faith but he has such a desire to learn more and to grow his faith. we read the introduction to the book 📖 of mormon with him and he loved it. at the end he told us "i think this book is true i just need to pray about it" after he said that I was so shocked 😲 he is so ready to continue learning more!!! 

also my compaion Hermana Sommer is from Indiana. I've never actually meet anyone from Indiana so she educates me about it every day. I always love learning about new places and she loves sharing crazy stories 😜 with me about the people of Indiana!!!

week 60: El Paso Mission

hey yall,

great news!!!! my mission is splitting!!! because of the increase of missionaries we opened a new mission!!!! unfortunately I won't be able to see the El Paso mission in action but I am so grateful 🙏 that I was able to serve in the El Paso mission!!!! (also I don't know much thata going on so I can't answer many questions) 

this week we were able to go on exchanges with the Horizon hermanas!!! I was able to go back to my baby area (my first area in my mission) and visit a few of the people I taught ❤️ I love going on exchanges and learning from the other missionaries. 

my companion and I found the coolest dude to teach. he is just an old grandpa 👴 and meet with missionaries like 10 years ago. when he meet with the missionaries they gave him a book of mormon! he said that he has been reading 📚 it since they gave it to him!!! we are so excited to continue to teach him!!! 

also this one is weird (maybe only missionaries will understand) but I received My Plan this week.... that was weird 😳 maybe it means I am actually going home 🏡 soon 

I don't really know any more hilights :*(( I'll try and be better with writing emails these next few weeks!!!

week 59: east side x2

hey yall, 

I got transferred!!!! I'm back to the east side!!! 🤪 I'm back in the El Paso zone so I'm back serving in the Montana Vista area!!! 

I had to leave Hermana Billeter so that was super sad 😔 I loved the mount franklin area and I didn't want to leave 😢 but I'm so excited to be back and serve the people here. 

I was able to say bye to all of my friends and the members in Rio Grande. 

anyways I'm taking all day to unpack so I don't have much more to say!!!
