Week 6 The Final Countdown

Happy Late Fathers Day Dad, Papa, Grandpa, and everyone who has been a father figure in my life!

Yesterday, I finished my last day of the MTC. It was pretty anti-climatic but I think that is because it's not a massive change. Not much else has happened this week other than me preparing to go into the field (fancy word for my mission). I'm sure ill have a ton of updates for yall next week. 

A little about my upcoming week. 

I'll be flying out to Baltimore on Tuesday with all of my stuff and where I say Adios to my family for a while. I will get to email/ facetime back home so it won't be that bad. Within 48 hours of landing, I will meet the President of my Mission and will be assigned a location and a companion. That companion (my trainer) will train me for about 3 months. I'll let you know how that goes next week (which will probably be on a Monday). 

This week, Altieri, soon to be Elder Perdomo, stayed with me and gave me quite a few pointers on Spanish. We went shopping for some suits and dress shirts/pants as well. We had the Charlotte Spanish Missionaries over for dinner two nights in a row who gave both of us pointers. (Elder Perdomo will be serving in Salt Lake City West mission speaking Spanish as well)

No ping pong was played... I guess I'm a sore loser.

Week 5 Merediths

GUYS, I HAVE ONE MORE WEEK!!!

This was my second week of staying with the Merediths in Utah doing my online training. I stayed with Elder Meredith so that we could be companions together and could focus. We had a great time practicing Spanish and working out in the morning. 

One morning, we went to a park for our "workout". We only had a volleyball so we went to the pickleball courts and created our own game where we combined the two. It was fun and ~shocker~ Elder Meredith won.

Final score: 60-1 Connor has been given an automatic bid into the 2022 Summer Ping-Pong Olympics

I came back home today to finish my final week of online training. I will leave for Baltimore on the 29th of June. Then, the only way to contact me will be through Facebook or this Email. I could not be more excited to start to serve the people in Baltimore. I am getting tired of staring at a screen all day sitting down. 

Sorry guys, Last week's scripture was supposed to be 2 Nephi 32:9 about prayer. You should still read it.

Ill keep my emails short so you guys can ask me any/all questions! I have been putting some of your study suggestions to the test and they are helping a good amount.

Week 4 Slow and Steady

Hi!

This week has been completely in Spanish. I have been fully immersed in the language and my growth from just this week has been quite impressive. I know that this growth is a mixture of hard work and getting quite a lot of help from the man above. I have learned more and can speak better than I could in any of the 3 years of Spanish that I took in school. Elder Pitts and I have been talking with each other only in Spanish for about an hour and a half each day. I know that most of the help I get learning the language comes from the Lord.

After week one in Utah with Elder Meredith, we have played a little ping pong in-between short class breaks to remain active. 39-1 Im sorry guys...

Most of my days have looked the same:

wake up at 6:30

breakfast and workout till 7:30

study with my companion at 8-9

first class 9-12

lunch 

workshop at 12:30-1:30

second class 2-5

language study 5:30-6:15 

dinner and personal study and various activities until 9:30

I always start and end my day with a prayer. I know that I can talk with my father above about anything and he will always. I read 2 Nephi 33:9 in the Book of Mormon this week and it reminded me of the importance and blessings from prayer. I invite you to read it this week as well and email your thoughts about it to me. I always love hearing what you send me.

Week 3 Espanol

Buenas Dias!

This week has been quite the shock. Our classes have been in complete Spanish and it is a lot to take in. With this, I have been fully immersed and my Spanish has improved more than it has in any spanish class I have taken. The gift of tongues is real. We have been learning how to meet someone, say a prayer, say what you know to be true and testify, and about our families and objects around us. Please send me a few study tips if u have them. 

Last weekend, some of my cousins came up to hang out and we had a great time. I got to explain to them what a missionary does and that a missionary doesn't work 9-5. They are full-time around the clock serving and helping others. 

Ping-Pong update: do you really need one? 16-29 pain. Mark leaves this weekend so I am going to have to live like this for 2 years. At least he didn't double my score. 

One of the best and easiest ways we can be like Christ is to serve others. It doesn't take much time to do something kind and make someone else's day. Be thoughtful in all you do and remember Mosiah 2:17 “that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." 

Also going to be at my roommates house for 2 weeks as we do home MTC (the training)
