Week 3&4

Hey y'all, 

It's been a crazy past few weeks!!! September 13th at 6:30 am, mom and dad dropped me off at the airport! Super sad to say bye but im super excited to meet the people of Albuquerque. I got to the CCM (Mexico MTC) around 3:00 and was greeted by the beautiful Mexico City. The colors here are so bright and happy its so hard not to be happy all the time when there is so much joy surrounding you. 

My companion is super dope. Her name is Hermana Finlayson, she is from Greensborough, super small world. We have 12 people in our district, 4 sets of elders and 2 sets of sisters. My district is super cool and I love every single one of them. Now that I am in Mexico my spanish has improved a ton!! I have class every day except for P-Day (which is today) and Sundays when we have church and devotionals. The Devotionals are super sick!! I love the spirit I am able to feel here it is like no other. Literally just feel super good all the time. There is absolutely no time to have a bad minute here. Also shout out to my district they are the best ever!!!! Long live 7D!!!! 

Mexico had their independence day on September 19th. We were able to be a part of their celebration!! We sang a bunch of songs!!!! SUPER COOL We watched fireworks outside of our apartment window!!!

Also for everyone wondering about the earthquakes I am good and the CCM is also good. There were 2 earthquakes this week, one super minor in my area and one in the middle of the night. It was also minor but my companion said that our beds were shaking. Anyways, kinda sick. 

We also had the opportunity of going to the Mexico temple!!! It's the largest temple outside of the US. Super cool experiences in the temple.

week 70: Back to Winchester pt2

Hello all!! It was great to be able to visit my old area and see a few people and members who I havnt seen in forever in Virgina (just 1 state away from NC) and it was AMAZING. got to get some Cookout and teach about Christ and work en la obra del senor. Pretty hype. Honestly better summed in pictures. 

We did have a miracle where in the last 20 minutes yesterday we knocked on the first door in the area and we got let in and taught a lesson. It was amazing the kids were screeming sooooo much but the spirit was the and the single overworked underpaid father of 3 was paying immense attention. Gotta notice the little things in life right?  God is good.

week 69: a todos lados

Well we'll well. It's crazy how fast my mission has been going but again we arive on my weekly update and once again I send another email. Onto week 69. 

Well this week was amazing. We started off with a crazy miracle where  we ended up finding a member who has been looking for the spanish church and also someone else who wants to come to church and start to follow Christ now. It was loco because we were in Hagerstown for the night but it didn't feel right until we prayed and realized we needed to go 30 minutes over to the next city. Seemed illogical but we followed the spirit. Also before that I got to street contact someone getting gas haha. They r from Nicaragua and live in Silver Springs.  

Wed3nsday We had an amazing zone conference where all the Missionaries got together. It was great to see all the Spanish Missionaries and a ton of English ones too. We learned on baptism and the sacrament and how essential they are. Lik either says in John 3:5. It was a spiritual high. I got to go on an exchange with Elder hill and he was super dope.  

We also ate some seafood at this place a member told us to join them and it was soo good. I ate like 4 plates. Elder Darley beat me with 6 geez. 

Also stake conference where I translated for the first time from English to Spanish for like 2 hours with Elder Darley. Geez fried my brain. 

Anyways God guides those who ask him for guidance. That's something I clearly saw this week. Go ask God how he can guide you and he will.

week 68: Hagerstown is popn

I had a busy week. I had exchanges with 3 differnet Elders. I got to go with Elder Hammond again which was awesome. We had some great sucess and taught 3 people and then at the end we went to a members house and he showed us a ton of his guns. 

Then I got to go on an exchange with Elder Hauswirth. It nice because between the two exchanges, all the district tin frederick got some pizza from this pizza place that gives us missionaries free pizza. Then we went to Hagerstown and I forgot the Sim card for the phone so we got to turn around haha. RIP I always forget stuff. But then from abt 4 to 9 we taught so many lessons it was just lesson teaching haha. Awesome day too. 

Then the third was with Elder Peterson. I was a bit sick but the work still goes on. We had 2 bomb lessons and they committed to come to church the next day. Then while we knocked some doors we saw a 14 year old trying to move a washer dryer from the second floor of a house. We helped him bring it down in the wackest way possible and then we loaded it on the Truck. Then we ended the exchange and I ate the most perucian food of all time haha. It was sooo good though. 

On Sunday We had a ton of people at check and it was soo awesome. They all loved it and really felt at home there even though a lot were there for their first time. The Lord really testifies of truth. Especially when we are where he wants us to be. Thanks for all your prayers I can really tell it helps. The people I meet are always super prepared and that is a large part from your prayer of faith.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

week 1: I'm Learning Spanish!

Hola Familia y Amigos!

This week has been very interesting… I never thought I would take online zoom classes again since covid but here I am now. I have two, four hour spanish classes everyday where I learn the spanish language and learn about the gospel. These classes are taught completely in spanish. My morning class is taught by a return missionary who served in Mexico and my afternoon class is taught by a local Mexican Hermana (sister). They are the sweetest teachers and are great with teaching us spanish. I can confidently say I have learned more spanish this first week of the MTC than my 3 years in high school. I have learned how to pray, bear my testimony and introduce myself. I know that the gift of tongues is real and has been helping me tremendously throughout this week. The one scripture that has keep me going this week is found in D&C 90:11, it says, “For it shall come to pass in that day, that every man shall hear the fulness of the gospel in his own tongue, and in his own language, through those who are ordained unto this power, by the administration of the Comforter, shed forth upon them for the revelation of Jesus Christ.” I know that I was called by god to share his message to the people of Albuquerque in the Spanish language. 

Since I have been online this week I was able to see my family everyday. My days are pretty full with class and personal study but I still have time everyday to talk to my siblings after their school day and I still get to walk my dogs :). Jack and Annie sit next to me while I am in class everyday. Sometimes they cause a distraction if they need to use the bathroom or run out of water but other than that they are great little side kicks. Mom and I try to walk the dogs every morning before I start class. 

On my P-Day (preparation day) which falls on a Saturday for my first two weeks of MTC mom and I went shopping. I needed to pick up a few last minute things before I leave for Mexico. That Saturday evening we went to the Catawba County Fair!!! That was the first Fair I have been to and I can day it was an interesting experience. Coleman and I played a game where we each won a fish… Their names are Cheeto and George.
