I will have to say that this was the kids favorite... to go to school and see all their friends dressed up AND go Trunk or Treating!

Halloween Dessert with the Missionaries

When we first moved here to Memphis, in our ward, there were 4 sets of missionaries! Yes… 8! So when you sign up to feed these Elders, you can sign up for all of them at one time or just one set at a time. Well, I decided just to go for it… and have them all over! Mind you, we only have 6 chairs for our table, but there are 5 more chairs that are scattered throughout the house. So, when they come over, we just squish all together. No one seems to mind... and I think they actually like just hanging out together!

Now, one set has moved into another ward, and we just have 3 sets. But it is still great having them. This year I have gotten a little more kid friendly with the desserts. They all somehow involve playing with food… which I think, is tons of fun!

Decorating sugar cookies and Roasting marshmallows over our fire pit and making smores are just a few that we have done. My kids are always asking when they are coming back over to eat!

Totally, Not Planned, Surprise!

On the way back to Memphis, I wanted to spend the night in total touristy towns called Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg Tennessee. I had gone there several times as a child and wanted to take my children so they could just get a glimpse at what these towns are like. Of course they wanted to stop at every racetrack, roller coaster ride, chairlift, and the all famous Dollywood. But this was just a drive though, spend the night, and head on out type of day. (I did promise them a real vacation there, a place you have to stay for at least 5 days!)

Meanwhile the day before I was heading back to Memphis, I get a text from MaryAnn saying that they were going to Pigeon Forge that weekend for their fall break. She said that we could stay with them if we wanted! Of course, I didn't hesitate... Another night with the Brias! For sure!

We all stayed in this amazing cabin and the kids once again played while MaryAnn and I talked all night... James, I hope we didn't bore you too much!

I think we are going to have to make this a regular vacation with the Bria's!

Who can't resist an afternoon ride out on the lake... especially when Samuel is driving you in all kinds of crazy circles!

Aunt Essie

We were so glad to pop over to my Great Aunt Essie's house for a visit. She is almost 100 years old, lives by herself, remembers all of our names, and still makes beautiful quilts. She is such an inspiration to us all. AND We so love her dearly!

Another race down... Scott was excited to race in the Myrtle Beach HALFMAX! He conveniently coincided the race with his interview in Charlotte. The kids are really getting into the races and "volunteering" on the sidelines! This time it was collecting the cups along with some other kids their age. In all, they collected around 1000. Yes, they actually put them in groups of 100 cups and were proud to show them off! Now that is a lot of running around!

After a long morning of racing... we headed off to the beach for some relaxation!
