week 32: End of 2021?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I hope you all had a very merry christmas! We had quite a week over here in northern Virginia. The worst part was definitely when I had to stop listening to christmas music but there have been a ton of highlights! Let me tell you a few

We had a Hot Chocolate stand christmas eve downtown where we gave out free hot chocolate and wished all a merry christmas.

We had a christmas themed Zone Conference with all the Spanish Missionaries from the entire mission!Even santa came.

Got to do some service at Salvation army.

Helped some sisters move into a new apartment

Hung out and celebrated christmas with the Senior Missionaries and the other english missionaries by making home made pizza!

Recovered from getting sick!

Its been my first full week here in Winchester and I have met so many new people that I'm teaching, people at church, and new missionaries! SOmetimes its hard to get up and moved but its relatively easy as a missionary, especially when you know youll be in good hands. Its not the same for other people. A lot of those who I have met have had to leave everything they have and take a dangerous journey up to America from their dangerous countries. It can be scary and really hard.

In this christmas season, i have refelcted on the wonderful gift that God has given us. We have his son, Jesus Christ, that can be with us and help us in whatever journey we are going through. It could be spiritual, mental, physical challanged but he will alwasy help us. Its easy to say but hard to actually do but thats what I get to help people do all day long. It brings me so much joy that I am able to help people find light and hope amidst their struggles

love you all,
Elder Espere

Gardening and Growing

Tomatoes are exploding at the farmhouse… everywhere… in the yard… in the chicken coop… in the fire pit… beside the shooting shed… a few in the garden… and lots around the house!  They are just everywhere!  Ive made tomato sauce to freeze, sautéed tomatoes for eggs, chopped up on a salad, and im wanting to make bruschetta along with some salsa.  Lots and lots of tomatoes!  I love tomatoes!

These two… i cant even explain… always goofing around… laughing constantly… and wanting to spend every moment together!  James and Samuel.  These two are tight!

South Meck Homecoming

This is the first time in the history since the Wait Family kids started SM in 2016 that we have gone to the HOMECOMING football game!  Football isn’t exactly great at South considering the ongoing joke is that the SM soccer team scores more points than the football team scores all season!  Welp, this year is one for the history books!  Kids galore, Parents, Friends, Teachers all came out to the game to cheer for the Sabres!  There were snacks, clothing, games, and food trucks for the parents and students… before the game!  There were so many people that the line to get in took until halftime to get everyone inside.  It was crazy bananas!  Excitement all around AND we pulled out a big WIN over Catawba Ridge!  Great to have a school that is now getting into Football… Friday Night Lights!

Week 17 The Bike Won/Lost

Welcome people,

What an eventful week. Our friend VICTOR KEPT HIS COMMITMENT! He read 3 Nephi 11 as well and also shared how much he loved this chapter. Wow, two people back to back. It made me equally as happy this week. I was jumping for joy and Victor was like wow your excited. I AM because I know that this is exactly what Jesus Christ wants him to do!

As you can see, the bike comes up as a theme once again. *Sigh* There might have been a little ~incident~ on Thursday night, and Monday night. First of all, no person was hurt at all. You might remember that a week or two ago I blew out my front tire. This Monday, I popped my back tire. Little sad and I don't know why it happened but it made us change our plans for that night. We had to take the bus to get tools to fix it and the sisters grabbed an extra tire for us on Wednesday. Thursday during dinner I fixed the bike tire. 2 new tires on a bike, Nothing could go wrong. We headed out to our friend Manuels house to teach him which requires a bus then we bike 2 miles to his house from there.

I put my bike on the bike rack in the front of the bus. I strap it in just like every other time. We are on the bus not 10 minutes and the bike falls off the rack after the rack broke and the bus RUNS OVER MY BIKE!!!!!!! YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!! It caused about two hours of headache as the bus had to pull over and do an incident report with a supervisor and it was raining and people were mad and I was Facebook finding and we had to call insurance and we were in disbelief.

Really good news! While facebook finding on the bus, I found Gloria! She was very open to talking and even joined us at Soccer and said she would come to church! I know God works in ways that don't make sense sometimes. He has a perfect plan and vision and I can only see what is in front of me if it isn't too dark. There is a verse in Mosiah 4 in the Book of Mormon that highlights this fact. I invite you to tell me which verse that is.

Write you in a week,

Elder Espere
