Hangin' out with the Peyers!

It has been years since I last spent time with my best friend and college roommate Deanna!  Its great that my best friend and brother live so close together that I can make one trip to spend time with them both.

We had the best time hanging with them in such a short amount of time that we were there.

The kids
made their own zipline in their backyard,
sewed bows using Palmers' sewing machine,
made homemade soap with bugs hidden inside,
went climbing at the countries largest climbing wall,
had sleepovers,
and
watched movies... our favorite pasttime!

Thanks, B and D for a great time!

We WiLL be back!

sardines, swings, and scavenger hunts

Having 11 people in one house can get crowed rather quickly... and when it is raining outside, your not left with much of a choice. It is either go skating, bowling, go somewhere other than staying in the house to release the energy of 6 kids, OR just head downstairs to the basement, which is just what we had our kids do.

My brothers basement is unfinished which works great with little ones. He is gradually putting up walls, electrical outlets, lights, and shelves for storage. My kids loved the freedom to run around and play games... which sardines was an instant hit. You can see my mom was totally getting into the game hide and seek and was counting while the others were hiding. All the kids love their grandma! I don't think they stopped for the entire 4 hours they were down there.

Sometime during all the craziness Coleman hurt his toe and Reuben had to give him some love to help make the pain go away. (notice he is still in his pj's and didn't take them off until late in the afternoon.) I love watching my brother play and interact with his boys. But what makes my heart melt is when the boys need their dad and he gives them all the love and attention they need. It is the sweetest.

My dad "supervised" the games by putting together my girls bunk beds for their dolls in the workshop. He has to find something to keep himself busy. He can put anything together and truly enjoys doing it... but I think the bunk beds were a little more tedious and cumbersome than he anticipated so my brother helped out to make it a little less painful! Thanks dad for the beds! The girls LOVE them!

Later after all the rain, the kids headed outside and my mom took them on a hike in the woods to look for unusual things, animals, or anything else they could find.

By the end of the day, they were plum worn out! I knew the end was in sight... bedtime was just around the corner... But then the wii came out and a DANcE PaRTY started! I didn't think anything would stop these kids. I guess that's what happens when your cousins are around!

Lucky for me, I was able to escape to the movies with Robin to watch Breaking Dawn! Yes, I always go on opening weekend to watch a Twilight movie, but this year things didn't work out for me to go! I waited over a month to see it! That for sure won't happen next time.

Thanks grandma for getting the kids in bed!

off to atlanta

The kids and I were so excited to visit my brother and his family in Atlanta. My parents also drove down for the week. The drive from Memphis was long... with 5 stops... but we made it in one piece. It was around 7:00ish when we started honking on the horn as we pulled up in the drive. The kids threw themselves out of the car while my nephews ran outside the house screaming and yelling. Laughter and hugs were all around. It seemed as if I let the monkeys out of a cage... well, i guess I did. Anyway, that's when the PaRTY started...

christmas day

Scott was so sweet and went into work at 5:00 so he could be home in time for the kids to wake up and open their presents from Santa before heading off to church.
.
Thanks grandma and grandpa for the remote control jeeps and faux rabbit fur coats!
Tons of fun for the next few months!

making cookies for Santa

Claudia wanted to make sure that Santa wouldn't get hungry along his busy route, so she left Santa 7 cookies along with a glass of milk. I tried tell her that 2 would be plenty but when Claudia has her mind set on something... there is no changing it with NO amount of persuasion what so ever!

busy wrapping packages...

The kids wrapped the gifts that they picked out for their siblings. They thought that was tons more fun than actually going shopping and buying them. Even the bows weren't left out... totally curled all over!

"Hey... Santa! I have some great elves who are really efficient when wrapping presents if ya need any extra for next Christmas!"
